Flowers and Pots Series, 2018-2022

Flowerpots, as representative subjects in the still life genre, were the subjects of a series of mixed-media drawings I developed between 2018 and 2022: marked by a graphic style, these drawings were daily-exercises to practice on composition, colors, weights and stroke.

Besides their decorative function, I was fascinates by flowerpots as incarnations of the tension between the human will of domesticating nature (and literally bring it inside the domestic space) reducing it to a simple ornament, and the need of reconnecting to nature through the symbolic, decorative presence of flowers.

In 2022 these drawings became were collected in the book Flowers from the hyperuranion, published by Oreri Editions.
